He is currently the director of the Wireless and Mobile Networking Laboratory (WMNL) and was the Dean of Academic Information Affairs, both at UNIST.
He received his BS degree from the Department of Electrical Engineering (EE), Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea, in 1999, and his MS and PhD degrees from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS), the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA, in 2005 and 2010, respectively. Before joining UNIST in 2011, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center, Hawthorne, New York, in 2010-2011.
His research interests lie in wireless/wired/mobile communications & networking, with an emphasis on AI-empowered networking, next-generation WLAN, 5G/6G communications, mobile edge computing (MEC), vehicular networks (V2X and Hyperloop communications), cognitive radio (CR), and dynamic spectrum access (DSA).
He served at the organizing committee at ACM MobiHoc 2022 (as a Local arrangement co-chair) and ACM WiNTECH 2013 (as a Publicity co-chair). He also served as a program committee member at IEEE INFOCOM, IEEE SECON, ACM WiNTECH, IEEE GlobeCom, IEEE DySPAN, IEEE WCNC, IEEE PIMRC, IEEE VTC, etc.
He has been awarded as a Distinguished Member of the INFOCOM 2022 TPC.
He is a senior member of the IEEE and the executive director of JCN at KICS.
