A research work by Daulet Kurmantayev, a WMNL alumni, has been presented at IEEE WoWMoM 2024, a top-quality international conference in the field of wireless networking.
This paper proposes a whole new way of inter-RAN coexistence in the unlicensed bands by leveraging RAN-agnostic communications. The proposed mechanism, called RiSi, can blindly recognize the intrinsic features of the unknown received signal from an incompatible RAN, not assuming any prior knowledge on it. This is possible by developing a novel neural network for semantic segmentation utilizing the received signal's spectrogram as the input to the network.
